•Every year in Marigliano, a small town near Naples, the
people celebrate the feast of the
patron saint Sebastian. It Is celebrated on January 20th, in the church
"St. Maria delle Grazie "Marigliano.
•The day begins with a
solemn Mass at 10, celebrated by our bishop. After the Mass there is a
procession of the saint, carried by the members of the committee. When they reach the
bridge, where the monument is
located , the parish priest and
the mayor say a prayer to the saint to help/bless the city. After the procession is finished the people return to the church.
•It is celebrated to
remember the miracle of the patron saint , who according to legend, in 1944
stopped the lava before it invaded the borders of the Vesuvian town destroying it.
For me it is a happy
feast because it reminds us
all what San Sebastian did for the town.
Excellent!!!!
